2016 Christmas Sew Along…Part 1 Cutting

Today we are going to cut the pieces for the entire quilt. 

To make things easier I’m going to number each Fabric as we will all be using the same numbers but different fabrics. I’ve left room if you want to print this out and paste your own fabric swathes on the page.

Cutting Directions:

These are the cutting directions for the entire quilt. As you cut your pieces  I ask that you place them in ziplock bags labeled with the size of each piece. This will make things easier later.

Fabric #1 

Cut 5 strip WOF of 2 1/2″  sub cut into 2 1/2″ squares.(80 total) .capture

* When cutting same size blocks I’m only going to post the pictures with rulers once.

Fabric #2

capture-1bCut 9 strips WOF of 2 1/2″ and sub cut into 2 1/2″ squares (136 Total)capture

 

Cut 2 strips of 4 1/2″ and sub cut into 2 1/2″ rectangles. (make 31)

Fabric #3capture-1a

A. Cut 6 strips WOF of 2 1/2″ and sub cut into 2 1/2″ squares (88 total).capture

 

B. Cut 3 Strips WOF of 5 1/4″ and sub cut into 5 1/4″ squares (16 total)

Sub cut these on the diagonal both ways to make 4 triangles. (62 total)capture

C. Cut 2 strips WOF to  3″ and sub cut into 3″ squares (18 total)

Sub these on the diagonal to make 2 triangles (36 total)capture

Fabric #4

Cut 6 strips WOF to  3″ and sub cut into 3″ squares (80 total)

Sub cut these on the diagonal to make 2 triangles. (160 total)capture

Fabric #5

A. Cut 1 strip  WOF to 4 1/2″ and sub cut into 4 1/2′” squares (6 total)  capture

 

B. Cut 1 strip  4 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangle (7 total)

C. Cut leftovers from previous strip to 2 1/2″ x  2 1/2″ squares (2 total)

Fabric #6

A. Cut 2 strip WOF to 8 1/2″ and sub cut into 8 1/2″ squares (6 total) capture

B. Cut 1  strip to cut 4 1/2″” x 8 1/2″(7 total) capture

capture-1dC. Use the left over from the previous strip to cut  4 1/2″x 4 1/2″ squares (2 total)capture

 

I’m going to leave out the borders for now,  we will cut them on the last day Nov 30. See you on Wednesday November 2 for part 2.
