I was fortunate enough to be able to addend a quilt retreat this weekend just 10 minutes from my house. This was a great weekend to recharge to get me in the mood to get a few projects finished. We pulled in on Friday at noon and sewed till we tired each night then we would go home to sleep. This was so relaxing as I was in my own bed and didn’t have to adjust to someones elses bed.
Friday I pulled in and set up my work station:
Yes I had to stack 3 chairs so that I could be at a comfortable height. lol. only thing about that is I had to stretch to reach the foot pedal. Needles to say I got my hubby to bring me my sewing chair so that I could be more comfortable.
By Friday evening I had my 1st project finished. This was a mystery runner that Paco Rich held for us on Life’s a quilt Facebook group, She also has a blog located at Pjs crafty creations. This was a 3 week mystery project.
Saturday morning I started on my new pattern that I call Fire and Ice. It’s still in the designing stage. Here is how much I got accomplished on this one.
Saturday afternoon some of the girls wanted to see how I quilted a large quilt on a domestic machine so I brought this christmas quilt to sandwich, quilt and bind. I worked on this one mostly after supper, and on Sunday morning had it all completed by 2pm.
As a break I figured I would teach one of the girls who was really interested in FMQ on a domestic machine to do it herself. We set up her machine.. darning foot, drop feed dogs, lower machine speed and she practice without thread on paper till her movements became less irregular and more fluid. She was a great student and enjoyed being able to pass on what I have learned. I sent her home with simple patterns that I drew on paper for her to practice. Cant wait to see how she’s doing by the next retreat that I go to in March.
I feel so energized after this fun weekend of visiting and quilting, making new friends. Cant wait till the next one. But 1st my machine goes to the doctors for its yearly checkup on thurday.
