The weekend or March 14th that I was supposed to have our quilt show since it was cancelled I picked up a quilt retreat in Edson… I’m so glad now looking back that i went since it may me the last for a long while.. I was even supposed to host one at Angel valley the last weekend in April that i have canceled in hopes to reschedule in the fall. That’s also the weekend that my life was dramatically changed… I got home sunday night the 15th only to find out that we were not to drive our busses till we were further notified as school had been canceled indefinitely… the following week I was clean and return the bus to the shop for long term parking. On April 1 the company laid us off with no date of return.
I spent the 1st week doing a major spring clean on the house it’s amazing how much clutter we accumulate.. 1 full truckload to the dump later.. i had the house decluttered.
The next week I worked on our LQS Behind the Seams yearly challenge. This years challenge we were given a panel consisting of 25 2″ printed blocks. With these we were to make something that could not be larger than 24″ x 24″.
Here is what i came up with.. again designed in my eq program. I decided to make this one scrappy so use up alot of those smaller pieces that I have been hoarding, I mean keeping in my stash.
On Saturday March 22 I made the quarantine quilt a along with quilters from all over the world. The quilt we made is called Elvira designed & hosted by GE Designs For this quilt I used only fabrics that I had in my stash. Most of these fabrics are from the early 90’s when i started to quilt. Its a good thing that styles repeat themselves every 20 years.
At the March 13 14 15 retreat I started a quilt that I had a panel of some animals, actually there are 5 of us that have panels similar so that we can see what the others will do with it. I designed it on my EQ8 program… Its made using a variation of the Storm at sea pattern…
Its finished now quilting and binding it yesterday. The quilting on this one is all Free motion.
I had allot fun making this quilt.. It will be gifted to my daughter Exandra since the minute she saw the panel she wanted it. I used batik fabrics for this all the materials have something earthy printed like leaves, grasses branches to keep with the theme of the outdoors.
Now i’ve started a quilt for a nephew for graduation 2021. Since i have all this time on my hands i figure i’ll get all 3 grad 2021 quilts out of the way.. I also have a few UFO’s that need to be completed.
What are you working on during this cooped up time?
Stay Safe, Stay well, Stay home!
Very industrious‼️
