2017 Spring Retreat…

I just spent a lovely weekend at the  pins and pine needles bi-annual spring retreat.  This year it was held at Camp Health, Hope, and Happiness just north of Seba Beach Alberta.  We had an attendance of 26 fellow quitters. We all had a great time.. Games, Demonstrations and small workshops.

I worked on a quilt that I designed that I’m going to call “Charming Stars”.  I got most of the  top done except for the borders. 4a It seems like I work better after supper as that’s when I seemed to get the most of this finished.  I guess I’m just too much of a social butterfly.  It could also be that I was the one who was in charge of organizing the games and demos. On Friday night we played a game that had us in groups slicing yardage into 2 1/2″ strips, Saturday we made blocks from these strips.  We had demonstrations on how to do the Ricky Tim’s  pipe binding, How to do a square in a square technique.  I did do 2 demonstrations one on Y seams on a tumbling block and how to set in a square without seams.

1aWe also hade some demonstrations, one on how to do a Chenille hot pad that I did not do as I have made chenille items before. Saturday we worked on doing Zipper Tulip case  by CloBird from a pattern that can be found free on craftsy. Demonstrated by one of our guild members.

The project that has me most excited was demonstrated to us by a gentleman from the  Edmonton Modern Quilt guild and he showed us how to make basket bowls.  I will definitely be making more of these.

These are the ones that all the others made…7a (2)It was a great weekend, we learned something, made new friends and were able to get some projects finished. Cant wait till the next one in September.
