This block is very similar to block 20.. This may sound weird but i find the inset corners and Y seams very relaxing.. Maybe that’s why I like making tumbling blocks and really enjoyed making Autumn Aura it was a paper pieced pattern that i designed myself..
Center.
layout
sew the opposite triangles to the sides then the other 2 triangles/ i pressed towards the orange
Corner sections
layout
sew the white edges together. Only sew to 184″ from the end of the V
Fold back one side to get the fabric out of the way.
place the black corner patch
Sew to ta 1/4″ from the edge where the fabric is folded back
this shows the seams that join at the 1/4″ from the edges
Alin the edges by folding the sewn patch awat from where the seam will go sew to the 1/4″ sean
showing the seams where they meet. Pressed towards the white when i flipped the section over. this way the black patch was flat.
Yellow triangle sections
take note of the placement the flat edge of the yellow makes a 90 degree corner with the orange wedges
sewn together
add the corner sectin to the short sides of the yellow section make sure you leave that 1/4″ spacing where the sections form V’s
now add the black edge triangles to them
top and bottom sections finished.
.sew the top and bottom sections to the center section then add the edging triangles. Leave that 1/4″ seam space.
I live by Mayerthorpe, Alberta Canada.A mother of 3. In my spare time I have 2 loves: Quilting and my horses these work well with the seasons. I started quilting when my oldest daughter was born 25+ years ago. I was making western shirts, when I quilt making those I had lots of bright cotton so I started making quilts. Over the last 17 years I have really gotten into it. I started taking an applique and a free motion class at my LQS. I'm now at the point where I no longer purchase Patterns. I've actually started designing my own. In 2015 I invested in EQ7 Quilt design program. In 2013 I purchased a HQ Sixteen on a 12 foot frame.
